Abstract

This paper was presented at the European Conference on the Regional Environment for Innovation and Technology, of which the author was co-director. The Conference was held on February 25—26, 1987, at ESADE, Barcelona, the premier management school of Spain, and under the auspices of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. Catalonia, for long the engine of the Spanish economy, is now engaged in renewing its dynamism following Spain's entry into the European Common Market.
